Q: What is the Process for Getting Started?
Typically, the process begins with a 15-minute call to determine your interest in services and to schedule an initial appointment. You can initiate services by completing information on the “Contact Me” tab, by sending an email to carlye.kincaid@kincaidtherapy.com, or by leaving a secure voice message at 919-627-8104.
Q: How are Forms Completed to Begin Treatment?
If an initial appointment is scheduled, Dr. Kincaid will send you a link to complete forms electronically prior to our first appointment.
Q: What is Involved for the Initial Appointment?
The first appointment is typically 60 minutes long. For children and youth under age 12, the initial appointment is scheduled with parent(s)/guardian(s) to obtain background information. Next, a second session is scheduled for the child to attend. For adolescents ages 12-17, at least one parent/guardian and the adolescent are typically asked to attend the first appointment. For adults ages 18 and up, the initial appointment takes place with the identified adult client. They may choose to bring another family member, but will first be asked to sign a release form if they would like the family member to participate.
Q: How is Payment Provided?
Kincaid Therapy & Consultation, PLLC accepts check and credit card, debit card, or HSA/FSA payments for services rendered. Payment is due in full at the time of service.
Q: Do you Accept Insurance?
Dr. Kincaid is considered an out-of-network provider. Many insurance companies provide coverage for behavioral health services. Upon your request, Dr. Kincaid can provide you with an electronic Superbill that you can submit to your insurance company. The insurance company would then reimburse you directly at the allowable rate.

Q: Where are you located?
The office for in-person sessions is located in south Durham, NC at 5316 Highgate Drive, Suite 222, Durham, NC, 27713. This location is conveniently located just a couple of minutes off of exit 276 from Interstate 40, near the Southpoint Mall area.
Given that the office is on the second floor and the building does not have an elevator, clients who have mobility and accessibility needs are encouraged to contact Dr. Kincaid to make alternate arrangements in advance.
Q: What is the typical length of sessions/treatment?
Most individual therapy sessions are 45 minutes long, although some people may choose shorter sessions (30 minutes) or longer (60 minutes) depending on need. Many evidence-based approaches can be delivered within 12-15 sessions. For more complex issues, additional sessions may be warranted.
Q: What is unique about your ability to provide therapy to individuals managing Food Allergies?
Dr. Kincaid has a lived experience with family members managing a variety of allergic conditions, as well as treatment for those conditions. The combination of this lived experience and Dr. Kincaid’s training in Clinical Psychology allows a tailored delivery of evidence-based treatments (such as CBT for Anxiety) that encompasses a more in-depth understanding of the complex medical factors involved in managing food allergies. In addition to allergy-informed therapeutic care, Dr. Kincaid is also open to collaborating with other medical providers (i.e., allergists, gastroenterologists, etc) to ensure the highest quality of care.
Q: Can you provide therapy for individuals managing other health conditions impacting dietary needs?
By proxy to learning more about food allergies, Dr. Kincaid is also versed in understanding other conditions that impact dietary considerations (i.e., Celiac Disease, Diabetes, Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), etc. Collaboration with your medical team to continue to develop better understanding of your unique health issues is one of Dr. Kincaid’s top priority for your care.
